Jamie Venci is an artist who is passionate about nature and three-dimensional storytelling through the use of mixed materials. She grew up in the Midwest in a family of makers and gardeners, a background that fuels her appreciation for the natural world and the handmade and is the foundation of her art-making practice.

Using details, usually from botanical, geological, or geographical elements, Jamie recreates moments of past, present and imaginary places. She often incorporates unexpected and reclaimed materials into her work to play with the viewer’s perception. This reinterpretation of space and time raises questions about how we engage with the natural world around us, a constant theme in her art.

Jamie capitalizes on her attention to detail and her broad set of artistic skills and experiences in her work in art departments on films, television shows, and commercials. She specializes in Set Decoration, and loves the challenge of bringing new worlds to life and collecting the right items to achieve the desired look and narrative (work here). Prior to living in LA, Jamie spent five years in San Francisco making visual and performance-based pieces and honing her craft of curation of materials and space design while working as an arts administrator at Southern Exposure and museum preparator at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and the Wattis Institute. Jamie attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she received a BFA in Visual Art.
